MOVIE: RiP! A REMIX MANIFESTO

Join Web activist and filmmaker Brett Gaylor as he explores the issues of copyright and content creation in the information age. Using mash-up artist Girl Talk as its central protagonist RiP! A Remix Manifesto draws the lines of battle in the war of ideas.
At a time when file-sharing, remixing and open-source have become the new buzz words, Gaylor and Girl Talk help untangle the complex issues of copyright and present an alternative approach towards ownership and intellectual property.
A participatory media experiment from day one, Gaylor shares his raw footage at opensourcecinema.org for anyone to remix. This movie-as-mash-up method allows these remixes to become an integral part of the film.
Creative Commons founder Lawrence Lessig, Brazil’s former Minister of Culture Gilberto Gil and pop culture critic Cory Doctorow are also featured in the film. And if you pay attention, you might also spot a few surprise guest appearances…
